Peggy's Homemade Biscuits



  • 3 cups self-rising flour
  • 1/2 cup shortening
  • 2 cups buttermilk


Cut shortening into flour with pastry blender, fork, or fingers. Add buttermilk and mix well. Sprinkle flour on piece of wax paper. Place dough on wax paper; knead slightly. Sprinkle small amount of flour on top of dough; roll out to about 1/4 inch thick. Cut with a biscuit cutter (or a drinking glass), dipping it in flour after you cut each one. Place in a well greased pan, rolling the biscuit over to grease the top side. Bake at 450 degrees about 10 min, until golden brown. Serve hot.
