Orchard Fresh Fried Apples


  • 8-10 medium sized Golden Delicious or Granny Smith apples, or some of each
  • 1 stick butter
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt


In 10 inch iron skillet or Dutch oven, slice apples (cored but not peeled) until they are "heaped up" in skillet. Put remaining ingredients on top and cover tightly with lid. Turn stove on low heat until some juice forms in bottom of skillet. Remove lid and turn up to medium high heat. Cook and stir until apples are tender and juice caramelizes. Serves 8-10.
