BOWLING GREEN, Ky. (WBKO) -- AARP is certified by the IRS to file free tax returns for low to middle income people over 60 years of age. And they've been doing it for more than 50 years.
They use over 35,000 retired volunteers nationwide, from professions like accounting and education; and they tend to stick to pretty basic tax forms.
"We'll do itemized deduction schedules," says AARP Tax Aid District Coordinator Mary Hammons. "We can do a simple Schedule C for somebody that has their own business. We tend not to do any returns that have depreciation on them."
AARP will be filing tax returns at the Family Enrichment Center in Bowling Green Mondays through Thursdays from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., in the library at Glasgow on Mondays from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., and at the library in Russellville on Wednesdays from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. until April 17.
