BOWLING GREEN, Ky. (WBKO) -- BB&T Bank told its customers Thursday evening an equipment malfunction at BB&T's data center is the reason behind an interruption in banking services.
As of 10:30am CT Friday morning, BB&T notified customers all banking services have been restored.
In a statement from BB&T's Facebook page, the banking company said "...we understand this is a major inconvenience for so many of you. We are so sorry, and we’re working very hard to restore your services as soon as possible". Many of BB&T's banking services were unavailable early Friday morning, including online banking, mobile banking app and ATMs. The posted statement went on to say if any customers incurred any fees or experienced any issues directly related to the outage, BB&T will work to address those issues as systems come back online.
At this time, BB&T says they have no reason to believe this issue is related to cyber security.
