BOWLING GREEN, Ky. (WBKO) -- Parents rushing around the store at the last minute with their children in hand is usually what comes to mind with back to school shopping. For the most part that is true, but many don't have the teacher in mind.

"As a teacher personally for my room, I spend a few hundred dollars every year getting my room ready. I would think about three hundred dollars probably on average out of pocket," said Briarwood Elementary, teacher Leslie Blair.
As soon as you walk in to Blair's classroom you can see the work that she puts in to getting her classroom ready for the new school year.
"Well, usually about the time school is out, I pick a theme for my classroom and then I start deciding how I want to decorate. I start coming in a few hours a day and getting things done, and by open house which was last night I'm ready to go for my students," said Blair.
As usual though, the day before school, parents were coming in and out of the store for last minute trips to get their children prepared, spending on average of well over one hundred dollars.
