Back to school safety tips while on the road

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. (WBKO) - Bowling Green and Warren County Schools both start back in session on Wednesday August 9th.

Warren County Sheriff Jerry "Peanuts" Gaines is reminding motorists of the importance of planning additional time for your commute.

Drivers should allow plenty of time for travel, decrease speeds in and near the schools, and be very cautious when encountering school buses, especially when the stop arm is out as Chief Deputy Tommy Smith explains:

"The School bus drivers are trained to report those incidents, they will get license plates, descriptions of the drivers, they will report this to us. We do take it serious and we do follow up on them."

Drivers should report aggressive, distracted, and dangerous driving to the Warren County Sheriff's Office (270-842-1633) or your local law enforcement.
