BOWLING GREEN, Ky. (WBKO) -- A rarity in Warren County happens twice in about two months.
Dr. Mike O'Bryan, Broadbent Wildlife Sanctuary Staff Veterinarian and Manager, says a bald eagle named Eleanor was brought to Broadbent two weeks ago with what looked like poisoning of some sorts. But, with a speedy recovery and lots of tender loving care, Eleanor was showing her personality and resembling the iconic American woman who she was named after in no time.
"My understanding of Eleanor Roosevelt that she might've been a little bossy, and it just seemed like, there's such a, historic and American tradition, the eagle, and so was Franklin and Eleanor Roosevelt and it just seemed like a perfect fit," Dr. Mike O'Bryan added.
Dr. O'Bryan also says Eleanor was treated at a non-profit wildlife sanctuary run solely on donations.
