BOWLING GREEN, Ky (WBKO) -- It's year 13 for the 'Be a Santa for a Senior' program, and today's wrapping party at Home Instead Senior Care was quite busy.
The senior care facility has been collecting gifts and donations since November and today they wrapped all of the gifts up.
Volunteers from across the community came together to lend a hand in the wrapping and delivery process. The program is focused on providing presents and Christmas cheer for senior citizens who may not get to have this otherwise.
"A lot of times at Christmas we forget about the seniors, we're always thinking about children," said Amy Cannon of Home Instead Senior Care, "They want to have a Christmas too and all these seniors do not have family members and this is their Christmas."
In the program's first year, they provided 50 seniors with gifts, but the numbers have risen drastically since then. Today, in its 13th year, they delivered gifts to 750 senior citizens around South Central Kentucky.
