Bowling Green High and WKU graduate to be the next chancellor of the University of Tennessee, Knoxville.

KNOXVILLE, Tn. (WBKO) - A Bowling Green native has been recommended to be the next chancellor of the University of Tennessee, Knoxville.

Beverly Davenport is a 1972 graduate of Bowling Green High School and is in the district's Hall of Honor.

She earned her bachelor's and master's degrees in communication and journalism from Western Kentucky University and a PhD from the University of Michigan.

Davenport's appointment will be recommended to the UT Board of Trustees in December. If approved, Davenport will join UT Knoxville on March 1, 2017.
