BOWLING GREEN, Ky. (WBKO) -- The Women's Fund of South Central Kentucky has announced a winner of it's 2017 Impact Grant, worth $100,000.
The announcement came on October 23 at the Women's Fund annual dinner meeting.
After listening to presentations from the final four organizations, Women's Fund members cast their votes, awarding The Boys & Girls Club of Franklin Simpson the 2017 Impact Grant.
According to a release from the Women's Fund, Jef Goodnight, the Executive Director of The Boys & Girls Club of Franklin Simpson stated, “The Women’s Fund Impact grant of $100,000 will be added to already secured funds of nearly $200,000 making them well on their way to building a better future for the youth served in Simpson County”.
The club has an architectural plan for a 3500-sq. ft. expansion, and is hoping to create a teen center, which will be called the Mason Goodnight Memorial Teen Center, in honor of Jef's son, Mason.
The Women’s Fund's initiative is to bring women together for the purpose of “making a positive impact on the lives of women, children and families of South Central Kentucky, now and forever” by collectively funding significant grants to charitable initiatives with the same purpose.
