BOWLING GREEN, Ky. (WBKO) -- Hungry customers descended upon First Baptist Church in Bowling Green Friday, for the 9th annual Community Action of Southern Kentucky Chili Cook-off.
It's a fund-raiser for Community Action's Senior Corps programs: including Foster Grandparents, Retired and Senior Volunteers, and their Senior Centers. It's a win-win situation for the senior citizens and the young people they help.
"It benefits senior adults and it benefits children with special and exceptional needs all at the same time," says Foster Grandparent Program Director Sandi Knight. "And that's the only program that I'm aware of nationally that does that. And I think taxpayers get more bang for their buck."
The goal of the Chili Cook-off is to raise matching local funds for the federal dollars they receive. Community Action of Southern Kentucky maintains 35 program facilities in our 10-county area.
