BOWLING GREEN, Ky (WBKO) -- The City Commission is meeting tonight to discuss the current panhandling ordinances and what needs to change.
Mayor Bruce Wilkerson says that currently there are two ordinances in place for the issue. One dealing with aggressive panhandling, and the other in place to address blocking roadways in traffic.
The city will meet tonight to discuss what changes what need to be made to match that of the recent Kentucky Supreme Court rulings.
Wilkerson added, "We're also looking at what we can do to strengthen the language to make sure people can feel safe and secure if somebody is still approaching them from a panhandling standpoint."
Officials say they plan to vote on a finalized ordinance sometime in January of the new year.
