Congressman Guthrie on help for Harvey from the nation's capital

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. (WBKO) -- Congressman Brett Guthrie says the environmental protection agency in Kentucky is contributing in relief to victims of Tropical Storm Harvey.

Many other organizations and groups of people across America have been stepping up to help in Houston. Speaking for Washington, Congressman Guthrie says "all hands are on deck" to provide relief in Houston, and the assistance will continue far after the rains stops.

"The military, the National Guard, all cabinet officials are focused on getting relief to the people there immediately and then we'll have to do an assessment of the damage and what it's gonna take to restore a very vibrant - I think seven million people - I think live in suburban Houston," says Congressman Guthrie.

The state of Louisiana is also being strongly impacted with flooding from the Harvey rainfall but the damage is no where close to what people suffered in Southeast Texas when Harvey made its first landfall.

Of course, Washington will help with relief and damage assessment efforts there as well.
