WOODBURN, Ky. (WBKO) -- According to the Richardsville Fire Department, crews worked a structure fire at Woodburn Baptist Church late Friday night.
Officials say several area fire departments showed up to the scene.
13 News spoke with the chief of the Woodburn Fire Department, Bob Skipper, on Sunday about the incident.
According to Chief Skipper, the damage was confined to the church's attic and sanctuary ceiling. Skipper says it appears it was an electrical fire, or started because of ceiling-mounted lights.
Chief Skipper says people inside the church noticed it, and were able to call officials to the scene very quickly. Skipper says crews arrived around 10 p.m. on Friday and stayed for approximately two hours making sure the fire was out.
Skipper says to his knowledge, church services were held at Woodburn Baptist Church on Sunday. We called the church for comment but have not received a call back.
