BOWLING GREEN, Ky. (WBKO) -- Bowling Green Police say on January 4, an elderly woman was scammed out of $5000.00.
The victim told police she was approached by a woman in a local store who started a conversation. The suspect told the woman she had a large amount of money, but could not deposit it for fear of not being able to get the money back from the bank.
The victim drove the woman to an area grocery store where they met another woman. Both women convinced the victim to prove she could withdraw the money, by writing a check and taking money out of her own account.
The victim wrote a check for “cash” and withdrew $5000, putting the money in her purse. When they returned to the store, the two women asked the victim to wait while they went in. No one returned and she discovered her cash was gone from her purse.
Now police need your help identifying the woman who preys on the elderly. The suspect is a black female in her 30’s, about 5-foot-5, with short black hair.
