Dana Howard’s 1st Grade Class

The JA Classroom of the Week is Dana Howard’s 1st grade class at Olmstead Elementary School. Her class was led by JA Volunteer Shelley Head who is a JA Alum and is a Loan Officer at Auburn Banking
Company. The 1st grade Junior Achievement program is titled “JA Our Families” and it focuses on activities teaching kids about needs, wants, jobs, tools and skills, and interdependence. Shelley’s favorite part of volunteering for JA is, “being involved with the children and watching them learn. They are so interested in learning what you are teaching them. They love doing something different from their daily routine and are so excited each day when I walk into the classroom to see what we will be doing that day. Their smiles are so bright!” She also said, “Junior Achievement has given me the opportunity to teach the children and to inspire them to be their very best. There are many opportunities for them in the future and JA helps to show them those opportunities and motivates them to be successful.”
