Diana Gigante's 10th Grade Class

The JA Classroom of the Week is Diana Gigante’s 10th-grade class at Greenwood High School. Her class was led by JA Volunteer Heather Hawkins who is a Mortgage Lender & Vice President at Farmers National Bank. The 10th grade Junior Achievement program is titled “JA Career Success” and it focuses on equipping students with the knowledge required to get and keep a job in high-growth industries. Students explored the crucial workplace skills employers seek but often find lacking in young employees. Students also learned about valuable tools to find that perfect job, including resumes, cover letters, and interviewing techniques. Heather’s favorite part of volunteering for JA is having the chance to interact with school-age kids and seeing their excitement when learning the JA curriculum. She also said, “I have always enjoyed teaching JA, but what really resonated with me was my own son coming home excited to share what he learned and how much he enjoyed having JA. It makes you see a different side of what kids are thinking and learning from the programs.”
