GLASGOW, Ky. (WBKO) -- Individuals and companies were honored inside the TJ Health Pavilion Community Center Thursday for their support of "Children's Day" in Barren County.
"Children's Day" is in its sixth year in Barren County and it aims to provide students with basic needs like school supplies and backpack snacks.
On average, the event helps nearly 3,000 schoolchildren every year.
Dr. Bharat Mody is an ambassador of the organization that puts on "Children's Day" and says this group is different than a lot of charities.
"The good thing about this charity," he says, "is that 100% percent of what we get goes back to the schools through family resource centers and youth services centers."
This year, Universal Children's Day is November 20, when students from across Barren County will putting on a show at Barren County High School.
To donate to the Children's Day Celebration, checks can be made out to "BCEF - Children's Day Fund" mailed to 204 North Race Street, Glasgow, Ky. 42141.
For more information on what your donation will be used toward, you can call Dr. Mody at 270-308-0435.
