Neighbors say the boy was with another juvenile at the time of the shooting. According to the man who owns the property where the incident occurred, he says it was an accidental shooting.
There is still not an available update on the boy's condition.
"He had a head injury or head wound, from the shooting. They were able to recover the firearm from the shooting while they were there on the scene, while they were providing first aid," Lt. Dale Adams, Public Information Officer, Franklin Police.
A juvenile is taken to the hospital after being shot in the head in Franklin.
According to the Franklin Police Department, they went to 303 Pepper Street at 2:15 a.m. after a male juvenile was shot in the head. Officers provided first aid until EMS arrived. The boy was then taken to Vanderbilt Medical Center.
Police say a handgun was found at the scene and police are still working to determine the cause of the shooting.
