BOWLING GREEN, Ky. (WBKO) -- Kentucky State Police's annual "Cram the Cruiser" event is underway until December 11.

This food drive is aimed toward helping the less fortunate members of communities that Kentucky State Police serves.

Suggested donations include non-expired canned fruit and vegetables, canned meat, macaroni and cheese, cereal, peanut butter, jelly, canned soups, chili or spaghetti sauce, brownie and cake mixes, coffee, water, powdered milk and juices.

Donations can be made at all 16 KSP posts.

Trooper Ashcon Karbasi of KSP Post 3 in Bowling Green says it's easy to take part.

"You can remain totally anonymous, you can literally just walk up here, open the door to the cruiser, put the food in there and leave," he says. "It's just that simple. We plan to cram our cruiser up full with it and hopefully get a little extra and maybe have to fill another cruiser up."

The drive will continue until December 11, and on December 9, Kroger in Bowling Green has agreed to match, pound for pound, donations made at their drop-off location.

According to KSP, last year, 339,656 pounds of food were donated.
