Katie Keating's 9th Grade Class

The JA Classroom of the Week is Katie Keating’s 9th grade class at the Barren County Trojan Academy. Her class was led by JA Volunteer Caralyne Pennington who is the Director of Member and Public
Communications at Farmers RECC. The 9th grade Junior Achievement program is titled “JA Career Success” and it focuses on equipping students with the knowledge required to get and keep a job in
high-growth industries. Students explored the crucial workplace skills employers seek but often find lacking in young employees. Students also learned about valuable tools to find that perfect job, including resumes, cover letters, and interviewing techniques. Caralyne’s favorite part of volunteering for JA is teaching students skills that will benefit them once they enter the workforce. She also said, “Connecting with students about real issues in today’s workforce, like critical thinking, teamwork, and soft skills, is such a rewarding experience. I enjoy my time spent with the students because not only do they learn something new each week, but I do too!” About Junior Achievement of South Central Kentucky (JASCKY) Junior Achievement of South Central Kentucky served 6 counties and reached over 9,800 students during the 2015-2016 year.
