Keeping up with WKU basketball’s incoming class: Dec. 29

The Western Kentucky basketball program has signed five players toward its 2018 recruiting class.

Here's a look at how their seasons are going at their respective schools:

FORWARD MATTHEW HORTON: Signed with Western Kentucky in November, is averaging 9.5 points, 7.5 rebounds and 4.1 blocks per game. Horton is shooting 61.4 percent from the field. Shelton (13-0) plays at Ancilla College on Friday.

GUARD TREVELIN QUEEN: Signed with Western Kentucky in November, Queen is averaging 26.4 points, 7.6 rebounds, three steals and 2.9 assists per game for the New Mexico Military Institute. Queen is shooting 49.8 percent from the floor and 36.1 percent from 3 for the Broncos (9-6) who play at Odessa College on Jan. 8.

GUARD JEREMIAH GAMBRELL: Signed with Western Kentucky in November, Gambrell is averaging 25.5 points per game for the Madison (Houston, Texas) High School Marlins (10-7). Madison plays Northside on Jan. 14.

FORWARD GALEN SMITH: Signed with Western Kentucky in November, Smith is averaging 18.4 points per game and shooting 71.1 percent from the field for Kahuku High and Intermediate School (14-3) in Honolulu, Hawaii. Smith has played in nine of the Red Raiders’ 17 games and has been held to a single-digit scoring outing just once. Kahuki hosts Moanalua on Saturday.

GUARD DALANO BANTON: Signed with Western Kentucky in November, Banton plays at Redemption Christian Academy in Northfield, Mass. Banton scored 36 points to go along with seven rebounds in a win over St. Petersburg (Fla.) High School and had 32 points, nine rebounds, four blocks, three steals and two assists in a win over Piedmont (N.C.) Classical High School last week.

CENTER CAMERON FINI: Committed to WKU in August, plans to join the Hilltoppers as a walk-on. Fini recently recorded double-doubles in three straight games and is averaging 20 points and 11 rebounds. The Warriors (9-0) face Serra on Jan. 2.
