The Western Kentucky basketball program has signed five players toward its 2018 recruiting class.
Here's a look at how their seasons are going at their respective schools:
FORWARD MATTHEW HORTON: Signed with Western Kentucky in November, is averaging 9.1 points, 7.2 rebounds and 3.9 blocks per game. Horton is shooting 60.2 percent from the field. Shelton (15-1) hosts Wallace State-Hanceville on Saturday.
GUARD TREVELIN QUEEN: Signed with Western Kentucky in November, Queen is averaging 27.1 points, 7.7 rebounds, 2.9 steals and 2.7 assists per game for the New Mexico Military Institute. Queen is shooting 50.2 percent from the floor and 36.3 percent from 3 for the Broncos (10-7) who host Midland College on Monday.
GUARD JEREMIAH GAMBRELL: Signed with Western Kentucky in November, Gambrell is averaging an estimated 25.5 points per game for the Madison (Houston, Texas) High School Marlins (11-8). Gambrell scored 18 points Thursday in a win over Austin.
FORWARD GALEN SMITH: Signed with Western Kentucky in November, Smith is averaging 18.5 points per game and shooting 64.9 percent from the field for Kahuku High and Intermediate School (18-3) in Honolulu, Hawaii. Smith had 20 points in a win over Castle on Wednesday and 19 points and nine rebounds in a win last Friday over Roosevelt. Smith was also named a McDoonald’s All American Game nominee this week.
GUARD DALANO BANTON: Signed with Western Kentucky in November, Banton plays at Redemption Christian Academy in Northfield, Mass. Banton averaged 41 points and 12 rebounds and two games for RCA last week.
CENTER CAMERON FINI: Committed to WKU in August, plans to join the Hilltoppers as a walk-on. Fini is averaging 20 points and 11 rebounds per game for the season. The Warriors (9-3) host Bellarmine College Prep on Friday.
