Local non-profit receives $10,000 grant from CMA Foundation

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. (WBKO) -- A local foundation that works to provide area students with instruments is receiving a $10,000 dollar grant.

The Son Rhea Foundation partners with area high schools to provide instruments and musical programs to students for free.

Friday, the Country Music Association gifted the foundation with its annual grant.

Those people who work for the foundation say this will allow them to grow significantly in the next year.

"We have been growing slowly over the last 19 years and this is a big step toward that," says Son Rhea Foundation President Tony Lindsey. "We have plans for a facility in the future to teach children music lessons and various things, and maybe even going into drama and performing arts, too."

The foundation says the first order of business is to create a guitar class and supply all of the resources at Bowling Green High School.
