BOWLING GREEN, Ky. (WBKO) – A local teen will compete in a national scholarship competition later this month.

Chapel Tinius will be in Mobile, Alabama on June 18 to participate in the 61st Distinguished Young Women National Finals on June 28, 29, and 30. The event will be held at the Mobile Civic Center.

Tinius is one of 50 representatives competing for thousands of dollars in cash and the opportunity to represent the program and the Distinguished Young Woman of America for 2018. She will participate in team building activities and complete community service projects in the Gulf Coast community.

If Tinius is selected as the program’s winner, she will spend the next year representing Distinguished Young Women across the country through various appearances and promoting the program’s national outreach program of Be Your Best Self.

Tinius is a 2018 graduate of Bowling Green High School and the daughter of Dane Emberton-Tinius and Jim Tinius.
