BOWLING GREEN, Ky. (WBKO) -- Forty students at Moss Middle School were able to experience something unique today.
They had expressed interest in the medical field, and in response, Dr. Shane O'Keefe, a vascular surgeon at The Medical Center" and 10 medical students, held a clinic for the middle school students.
The clinic included question and answer sessions and informative displays to teach them about intubation, CPR, blood pressure, and reflexes.
Dr. O'Keefe believes educating the next generation is part of the Medical Center's mission.
He says, "The mission of the Medical Center is to advance care in the community here, and part of that includes education of the community and hopefully inspiring members of our community to pursue careers in medicine."
The students were also treated to a demonstration of how the suture process works, as they watched stitches being sewn into pigs' feet.
