FRANKFORT, Ky. (WBKO) – Three Glasgow attorneys have been nominated to fill the Family Court Judge seat for Barren and Metcalfe counties.
The Judicial Nominating Commission announced Wednesday that Cheryl Berry Ambach, Mica Wood Pence, and Traci Lee Peppers would be considered for the position previously held by W. Mitchell Nance, who retired this past Saturday.
Ambach, Pence and Peppers all have their own law practices that focus on family law cases. Ambach and Peppers received their juris doctors from the University of Louisville Louis D. Brandeis School of Law and Pence received her juris doctor from the University of Kentucky College of Law.
Judge Nance was charged with misconduct on September 11, 2017 after declaring that “under no circumstance” would the adoption of a child by a homosexual be in the child’s best interest. Nance ordered that any attorney filing a motion for adoption on behalf of a homosexual party notify court staff so that he could recuse and disqualify himself from any such proceeding.
Nance was publicly reprimanded by the Judicial Conduct Commission.
