Rachel Pinkley’s 5th Grade Class

The JA Classroom of the Week is Rachel Pinkley’s 5 th grade class at Lost River Elementary. Her class was led by JA Volunteer Caitlin Lee who is a Customer Service Representative at BlueCotton. Caitlin is also a senior studying Elementary Education at Western Kentucky University. The 5 th grade Junior Achievement program is titled “JA Our Nation” and it focuses on introducing students to the intersection of work readiness and upper elementary grades social studies learning objectives. Through hands-on classroom activities, the program provides students with practical information about the nation's free market system and how it serves as an economic engine for businesses and careers. The curriculum also introduces the need for entrepreneurial and innovative thinking to meet the requirements of high-growth, high-demand careers and the concept of globalization in business. Caitlin’s favorite part of volunteering for JA is seeing how much the kids enjoy each session as they get involved in the interactive lessons. She also said, “Junior Achievement is an organization that both the students and the volunteers love being a part of.”
