BOWLING GREEN, Ky. (WBKO) -- Seven culinary arts students from SKY CTC here in Bowling Green are getting the experience of a lifetime. They will spend one week at Churchill Downs helping professional chefs prepare food for the 170,000 people expected to attend this year's Kentucky Derby!
First year student, Juanita McIntyre, is looking forward to meeting students from New York and Pennsylvania to learn new techniques. "That is going to be in itself a delight," says McIntyre,"because you get to see what they've been taught and how they've been taught. You get to see different crafts."
The students will help mix, chop, and cook, thousands of pounds of ingredients which they will serve to guests in suites and luxury boxes throughout Churchill Downs. Several students will also get to prepare food for the Dawn at the Downs breakfast on Millionaires Row.
