SKYCTC students learn about getting involved on campus

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. (WBKO) -- Southcentral Kentucky Community and Technical College students got the chance learn about all the clubs and activities the school has to offer at the "SKYFest Back to School Bash" on Wednesday.

SKYCTC officials say the goal of the event is to get their students involved on campus because active students tend to be more successful.

"Our first day of school was actually last week," says Kyle Barron, director of student life and engagement at SKYCTC. "We give them that first week to kind of get into things and get situated. This is our second week in, just hoping to get students involved because we know students who are involved in clubs are a lot more likely to be successful and walk across the stage in the end."

There are currently 15 clubs at SKYCTC, ranging from movie clubs to honors clubs, but Barron says if there's a club you'd like to see started, it only takes five students to start one.
