FRANKLIN, Ky. (WBKO) - Franklin may be six seconds shy of Hopkinsville's world record time, but the town isn't taking a back seat when it comes to celebrating the eclipse.
Simpson County has several events planned for not only the day of the eclipse, but for the days leading up to it.
These pre-eclipse events include a concert on the square on Friday, a reception for out-of-town eclipse viewers on Saturday, and a music festival on the square on Sunday.
Simpson County Tourism Director, Dan Ware, says the events are in place to accommodate the influx of people who will be anxiously awaiting the eclipse.
"We know from pre-registration that we've got visitors coming from as far away as Alaska and California, upstate New York, even three foreign countries. So we have tried to plan a full weekend of eclipse events," Ware explained.
Franklin's full schedule of eclipse events can be found on their Facebook page. We've attached the post of their schedule to this web story.
