GREENVILLE, Ky. (WBKO) -- Kentucky State Police is advising the public of a possible scam.
KSP and the Muhlenberg County Sheriff’s Department say officials have received complaints of a scam involving a home for rent/lease in Greenville.
Officials say the “owner” of the residence has posted the home for rent/sale/lease on social media. When victims contact the “owner” in reference to the home, the victims are advised to wire money to various locations within the United States.
Once the money is received, the victims are told their keys were seized by U.S. Customs due to the delivery person being arrested. The “owner” then wants the victim to send more money in order to get the keys from evidence.
KSP says there is a great possibility for this suspect to have posted this scam, or similar ones, on various social media platforms.
The Kentucky State Police advise to never give out personal information to anyone that you are not familiar with.
To report a possible scam, please contact the Kentucky State Police Post 2 Madisonville at 1-270-676-3313, or contact your local law enforcement agency.
