South Central Kentuckians celebrate Father's Day

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. (WBKO) -- Whether today was your first introduction to bowling, or you've been practicing for several years, dozens of families enjoyed a few games today to celebrate Father's Day at Southern Lanes.

"For Father's Day, we're doing $3 for the shoes and then $1 per game for fathers," says Brandon Anderson with Southern Lanes.

"It's been pretty busy all day [Sunday]," he adds, as several families walk by with bowling shoes in hand.

Other dads took their family out for ice cream.

13 News stopped by Bruster's Real Ice Cream and met the Berthold family.

They had traveled from Elizabethtown to Bowling Green for the holiday, planning to see the Hot Rod's Baseball game. Due to the weather, the game was cancelled, but the Berthold family said being able to spend the day together was a holiday in itself.

"Well, it's always great to spend time with you family, so it's another good day to enjoy Father's Day with my wife and son," says Deron Berthold.

His son, Luke, told 13 News his favorite thing to do with his dad is play golf.

The weather may not have worked out for golfing or baseball, but Luke and his dad both enjoyed a chocolate milkshake from Bruster's.

They wanted to wish all local dad's a 'Happy Father's Day.'
