South Central Kentucky volunteers head to Texas for hurricane relief

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. (WBKO) -- The South Central Kentucky chapter of the Red Cross has sent six volunteers to help relief efforts in Texas, after Harvey devastates the southeast part of the state.

Vice Chair Trent Ranburger says the six volunteers are joining 26 others from across the state of Kentucky.

Ranburger says during a time like this, it takes more than one organization to make a difference.

"Disasters like this, one agency can't handle," he explains, "so Red Cross is working with everyone in the response community, with no-profit organizations, faith-based organizations, government agencies. Disasters like this really bring everyone together."

To make a t$10 donation you can text "HARVEY" to 9-0-9-9-9, or call 1-800-RED-CROSS.

Donations will go toward immediate relief for those affected by the dangerous weather.
