WARREN CO. & BARREN CO., Ky. (WBKO) -- As nearby businesses, parks and organizations kick off their Memorial Day weekend festivities, they're most excited to see you come join them for the holiday fun.
Bowling Green KOA's Yvonne Goad says campers book camping plots months in advance to join fellow campers and locals to celebrate Memorial Day, no matter mother nature's plans.
"We have 61 coming in today. Our campground will be full. The pool will be open, and then we have some activities planned if weather permitting. We plan on having a train ride, possibly a hot dog roast, corn-hole games, just different things for the campers."
Moving down Beech Bend Road, Bowling Green's Beech Bend Park Manager Charlotte Gonzalez says they're open for business and will keep all the rides, slides and good times open, weather permitting.
"We'll be here all weekend long, rain or shine. We can operate everything here in general to moderate rain. If we get lightning or thunder, then obviously we have to close down the water attractions temporarily until Mother Nature passes on and then we can reopen."
And if you feel like spending the weekend in Barren County, the Barren River Lake State Resort Park will also not allow Mother Nature to dampen the fun.
"we have a lot of activities set and scheduled indoors as well for the youth. Really glad that this year today is going to mark the grand opening-reopening of our concession stand at the beach area, Game of Family Feud, tie-dye t-shirt events," Danny Sallee, the Barren River Lake State Resort Park Manager mentioned.
Sallee added, "So, it's something this weekend that everyone would have a good time, something they can participate in, and that's regardless of what type of weather we may have."
