Students learn physics from rebuilt cars

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. (WBKO) -- Drakes Creek Middle School hosted a science class on Tuesday, unlike any you've ever seen before.

Students took part in a pre-engineering physics experiment using old cars.

Tim Grillot of Holley Performance says there is a lot of Science, Technology, and Math involved in rebuilding the cars so the students are learning as they put the cars back together.

"They installed a modern engine, transmission, drive train, suspension system, electronics, everything so the car really looks and handles like a more modern car."

Students use something called an accelerometer to measure the G-Forces in the car that other students built from scratch in a garage.

The class is a joint effort of the Bowling Green Area Chamber of Commerce, Holley Performance and area trade schools.
