Tara Gupton’s 10th grade class

The JA Classroom of the Week is Tara Gupton’s 10th grade class at Greenwood High School. Her class was led by JA Volunteer Wadette Bradford who is the General Manager at Martin Kia. The 10th grade Junior Achievement program is titled “Career Success” and it focuses on equipping students with the knowledge required to get and keep a job in high-growth industries. Students explore the crucial workplace skills employers seek but often find lacking in young employees. Students will learn about valuable tools to find that perfect job, including resumes, cover letters, and interviewing techniques. Wadette’s favorite part of volunteering for JA is seeing the positive reactions and hearing the overwhelming responses from the students that demonstrate their understanding of the concepts that will prepare them to do well in the workplace. She also said, “My experience with Junior Achievement is gratifying. I am encouraged to see my ability to communicate life skills with young people that will favorably impact their ability to provide for themselves in the future. I appreciate the Women Dealers of the National Automobile Dealers Association (NADA) for partnering with JA to facilitate this opportunity.” Martin Kia has paid technician training and career opportunities at their dealership in their service department and body shop for both students and adults.
