BOWLING GREEN, Ky. (WBKO) -- The Salvation Army's Angel Tree program has started up for this season.

The tree is set up in the Greenwood Mall by Belk. If you're interested in sponsoring an angel for this year, you can stop by the tree any time Monday through Saturday 10:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. and Sunday 1:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m.

You can also call The Salvation Army at (270) 843-3485 to get information about adopting an angel and getting items for a child's Christmas wish list.

Major Stephen Story, Minister and Administrator for the local Salvation Army says volunteers are needed to help work the angel tree.

"We always need people to do that to sit at the desk and help families and assist families in adopting angels," Story says.

In addition to the Angel Tree, The Salvation Army is also starting its bell ringing for this holiday season. According to Story, it's off to a good start.

"Our kettle program, we started off small, so we rang Friday and Saturday and had good days. We'll start this Friday (November 17), and we'll ring every day but Sunday and Thanksgiving Day all the way through December the 23," he says.

Story says the bell ringers will be at around 20 different stores throughout the area as the holiday season approaches. He says families, individuals, groups, and organizations can volunteer as bell ringers.
