Unemployment rates in Kentucky go down in over 80 counties

FRANKFORT, Ky. (WBKO) -- Reports from The Kentucky Office of Employment and Training say that unemployment rates in Kentucky fell in 82 counties between October of 2015 and 2016.

33 counties experienced a rise in unemployment and five counties stayed the same.

According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics the National average of unemployment in America is 4.9% and Kentucky has an average of 5% unemployment.

Woodford County now has the lowest unemployment rate in Kentucky, with only 3% of their people being unemployed.

Other counties with lowest unemployment ratings:

Oldham County - 3.1%
Shelby County - 3.1%
Fayette County - 3.3%
Spencer County - 3.3%
*Warren County - 3.4%
Anderson County - 3.5%
Boone County - 3.5%
Campbell County - 3.5%
Scott County - 3.5%

Counties with highest unemployment rating:

Magoffin County - 14.1%
Leslie County - 11.6%
Harlan County - 10.5%
Letcher County - 10.3%
Elliott County - 10.1%
Floyd County - 9.9%
Pike County - 9.6%
Knott County - 9.5%
Clay County - 9.3%
Perry County - 9.3%
