Western Kentucky basketball signee Mitchell Robinson was named a member of the Naismith Trophy high school boy's basketball midseason team of 25 seniors, announced Wednesday by the Atlanta Tipoff Club.

Ten semifinalists for the award will be announced Feb. 7.

Robinson, a five-star center out of Chalmette (La.) High School, is considered one of the top prospects in the nation. He signed with WKU and coach Rick Stansbury in November.

The big man is ranked as the No. 6 prospect nationally in the 2017 class by Rivals, Scout and 247Sports. Robinson is the Hilltoppers’ highest-ranked prospect during the modern recruiting service era, as well as Stansbury’s highest-ranked recruit during his 15 seasons as a head coach.

Robinson is averaging 27.1 points, 12.7 rebounds and 5.9 blocks per game this season for Chalmette, according to MaxPreps.

He was also named a nominee for the McDonald’s All American Game on Tuesday. The final roster for that high-profile event will be announced Jan. 15 live on ESPNU.
