The Western Kentucky basketball program has signed five players toward its 2018 recruiting class.
Here's a look at how their seasons are going at their respective schools:
FORWARD MATTHEW HORTON: Signed with Western Kentucky in November, is averaging 9.8 points, 8.2 rebounds and 4.2 blocks per game. Horton is shooting 60.7 percent from the field. Shelton (12-0) plays at Baltimore City Community College on Dec. 28.
GUARD TREVELIN QUEEN: Signed with Western Kentucky in November, averaging 26.4 points, 7.6 rebounds, three steals and 2.9 assists per game for the New Mexico Military Institute. Queen is shooting 49.8 percent from the floor and 36.1 percent from 3 for the Broncos (9-6) who play at Odessa College on Jan. 8.
GUARD JEREMIAH GAMBRELL: Signed with Western Kentucky in November, Gambrell is averaging 27.5 points per game for the Madison (Houston, Texas) High School Marlins (8-6). Gambrell scored 42 points in an 86-82 loss to Furr and 20 points in a win over Sharpstown. Madison is at Port Arthur on Dec. 29.
FORWARD GALEN SMITH: Signed with Western Kentucky in November, Smith is averaging 15.9 points per game and shooting 65.6 percent from the field for Kahuku High and Intermediate School (12-3) in Honolulu, Hawaii. Smith has played in seven of the Red Raiders’ 15 games and has been held to a single-digit scoring outing just once. Kahuki hosts Kalaheo on Saturday.
GUARD DALANO BANTON: Signed with Western Kentucky in November, at Redemption Christian Academy in Northfield, Mass. Banton scored 37 points in a loss to the Hill School and had 32 points and five assists in a win over Covenant College Prep earlier this season. No current stats are available for Banton.
CENTER CAMERON FINI: Committed to WKU in August, plans to join the Hilltoppers as a walk-on. Fini recorded double-doubles in each of his last three games and is averaging 20 points and 11 rebounds. The Warriors (7-0) host Palma on Saturday.
