Lady Toppers come up short in five-set thriller at UK

LEXINGTON — Western Kentucky jumped out to a 2-0 lead Saturday in the first two sets, but host Kentucky came roaring back to win the next two and then the deciding fifth set 15-12 to advance to the round of 16 in the NCAA Tournament, ending the Lady Toppers' season.

Alyssa Cavanaugh finished with 23 kills while Taylor Dellinger tallied 12. Rachel Anderson and Sydney Engle each added 10.

Jessica Lucas finished with 51 assists to set a new WKU career assist record to 5,338

WKU finished with a record of 31-4 and a fourth straight trip to the NCAA Tournament thanks to winning the Conference USA championship.
