Western Kentucky University Police are investigating a very serious case of wanton endangerment.

Sometime Saturday night, September 12, several manhole covers were removed from the sidewalks on Normal Avenue.

While this may seem a harmless prank to some, this type of activity could cause serious injury or death, should someone step into one of the openings. Some of the manhole covers removed, exposed an opening 10 feet deep or more.

Police want to remind pedestrians to be aware of their surroundings, and not get distracted by talking or texting on their cell phones.

If you have information about this or any crime, call the South Central Kentucky Crime Stoppers at 781-CLUE, or click here to go to their website.

Crime Stoppers only wants your information, not your name. Their telephone lines are not recorded, and they do not use caller ID or *69.

Crime Stoppers is expanding to a regional program. So far Allen,
Barren, Butler, and Edmonson Counties have partnered with Crime Stoppers to make their communities a safer place.
