Democratic U.S. Senate candidate and Kentucky Attorney General Jack Conway is calling a lawsuit filed by attorneys general from 13 other states to stop the massive health care overhaul a "political stunt."
The lawsuit was filed against the federal government seven minutes after President Barack Obama signed the overhaul bill on Tuesday.
Conway says he does not intend to join that suit.
"It's a waste of taxpayer money," Conway said. "Obviously Trey Grayson thinks I ought to do otherwise and the House and Senate republicans think otherwise. It may make for good tea party politics, but it makes for a really bad lawsuit because it's based on questionable legal principles."
Conway says the health care bill isn't perfect by any means, but he supports it.
He says the bill was a step that needed to be taken.
