A man suspected in a three-state stabbing spree could soon learn if he'll face trial for the slaying that convinced Michigan police they were likely dealing with a serial killer.
Elias Abuelazam is charged with three murders and five attempted murders in Michigan and an attempted murder in Ohio, and suspected in attacks in Virginia. He's pleaded not guilty.
A prosecutor will try to persuade a judge Friday to try Abuelazam for the death of Frank Kellybrew. He was attacked July 30 near Flint, an area where 14 people were stabbed, five fatally this summer in a spree that bewildered police.
Abuelazam was arrested in August trying to board a plane to Israel. Authorities say Kellybrew's DNA was found on blood-stained shoes in Abuelazam's luggage.
