Rep. Guthrie Promotes Doing Health Care Reform in Stages
Second District U.S. Representative Brett Guthrie is in Bowling Green, to host a Seniors Information Fair from nine-till-noon Monday, February 22, at the WKU Center for Research & Development, formerly known as the Old Mall.

The congressman stopped by our studio Monday, where I asked him why Congress can't stop the partisan bickering over health care, and at least pass a bill that allows individuals to buy health insurance across state lines.

"That's exactly what we've talked about," said Congressman Guthrie. "Let's do some things incrementally, what everybody can agree on. I think if you just look at social policy with the health insurance, people want people with pre-existing conditions to be covered. People want people that have health insurance to not lose it once they get sick, that health insurance companies can't drop people for technical reasons. I'll think we'll fix that."

But Congressman Guthrie does not have a timetable for when that fix may occur, because he says his party is not the one in control of the gavel.
