Concert Benefits Blind Child

A benefit concert will be held Oct. 2 for a baby heading to China for treatment to restore his sight.

Jackson Blackford is one of five children in the entire world to be selected for a research study using umbilical cord stem cells.

Jackson was born with "Optic Nerve Hypoplasia," which left him blind.

The treatment and trip cost $60,000, none of which is covered by insurance.

The Greenwood High School Concert Band and Choir will perform at First Baptist Church.

Tickets are $8 for adults and $4 for children 12 and under.

All proceeds go toward medical expenses.

Jackson's mother, Rachael Stayer, is an alumnus of Greenwood High.
