In 150 years Metcalfe County can say it has seen a lot.

The Civil War, two world wars and a great depression.

Today at Metcalfe Middle School, formerly the high school, 36 different graduating classes gathered to celebrate their county.

Mary Kay Cassidy graduated in 1958 from that buildings first class and says the town has changed since her days in high school

"We're not the same sleepy little town where you knew everybody.I go to town now and I see a lot of strangers," she said.

Peggy Spraldin graduated in 1964 and she was excited to see old friends and teachers.

"Overwhelming, it's great to see all of your classmates and underclassmates the teachers and it's just heartwarming," she said.

Herb Sparks has lived in Metcalfe County his whole life and considered the town historian and the county has seen some famous people come through.

"Of course the Bank of Columbia was robbed in 1872 by the James boys, there's a story they hid here with their family before the robbery. There's a story that John Dillinger stayed in the hotel int he 1930's we have a cowboy Alan Rocky Lane that is supposedly buried in the Summer Shade Cemetery," he said.

At the end of the day a time capsule was buried with items like cellphones and letters from grandparents to their grandkids.

In another 50 years they'll open it up to look back at 200 years of life in Metcalfe County.

The whole weekend was a success.

Last night there were over 10,000 people at an outdoor concert on the town's square.
