Right now students at Richardsville Elementary School learn in their old building, but hopefully soon they will be in the new building.
There is still construction to be done first.
The new school is still being worked on and Principal Kory Twyman likens the day it will open to Christmas.
"I was telling someone it's almost like Christmas. You can see the presents out there in front of you but you can't get in there and open anything up yet," he said.
And just like a kid on the holiday he is pretty excited for the gift.
"Scale of one to ten I'm probably at a twenty right now. Really excited to get the opportunity," he said.
When the school does open it's doors it will do so as the nations first net zero school.
Meaning it will produce more energy then it is using up.
That alone has people from all over the world calling, wanting to see the school.
"I've talked to people from Chicago, Texas, Florida wanting to know more information about our school. We actually have some people from France coming over to look at the building," he said.
To be known as the principal of the very first net zero school is very humbling for Twyman.
"It's quite humbling to know I have the opportunity to be the principal for the first building like this," he said.
Right now the plan is for the school to be ready when the students come back from fall vacation, Monday October 11.
