A Glasgow Police officer is recovering after being shot early Thursday morning.
Glasgow Police responded to the residence of Rex Wheeler Jr., after receiving complaints from neighbors who say they awoke to the sound of gunfire. When the responding officers proceeded around back of the house, a man from inside allegedly fired a single shot, injuring one of the officers.
Forty-year-old Sergeant James Duff received injuries to his back, head and face. His bulletproof vest prevented further injury. Sergeant Duff was taken to Glasgow's TJ Sampson Hospital where he is listed critical condition.
Police arrested 34-year-old Rex Wheeler Jr. He is charged with two counts of attempted murder. Wheeler is being lodged in the Barren County Regional Jail under a $100,000 cash bond.
